About
Written by people who build this stuff
PhoneHub explains phone numbers, eSIM and mobile connectivity — plainly, and without pretending to be neutral about who publishes it.
Who publishes PhoneHub
PhoneHub is published by AffinityClick, a Canadian company that builds mobile communication apps. AffinityClick operates Hushed, a second phone number app, and aloSIM, an eSIM data service for travellers.
That matters for two reasons, and we would rather you heard both from us.
The first is that we are not a neutral observer of this market. We compete in it. Anywhere our own products are relevant, we say so on the page — not in a footnote.
The second is that building these services is also where the useful knowledge comes from. Questions like what actually happens to a number when it is ported, why a call over Wi-Fi degrades the way it does, or which networks an eSIM really attaches to in a given country, are things you learn by operating the service, not by reading a spec sheet.
What we cover
- eSIM & Travel — Staying connected across borders — how eSIM actually works, what roaming really costs, and what to do before you board.
- Second Numbers & Privacy — A phone number is a lookup key. Who should have a second one, how to keep the two apart, and how to stop yours spreading.
- VoIP Explained — Calling over the internet, without the jargon — what VoIP is, when it beats a traditional line, and why it sometimes sounds wrong.
- Business Phone — Running a business from a phone: separating work from personal, looking established, and not missing the call that mattered.
- Trends — How we use phones is still changing. Why nobody answers, what replaced the landline, and where the norms are heading.
What we don't do
We don't publish reviews of products we haven't used. We don't run affiliate round-ups of services we know nothing about. And we don't publish a page simply because a keyword looks profitable.
Our full editorial standards set out how pieces are researched, corrected and updated.
